About Us

Space City Anarchist Organization is an anarchist collective based out of so-called “Houston, Texas”. Our collective is dedicated to building autonomous projects to help meet people’s needs and to assist the struggle for liberation for all oppressed communities. We seek to build community power within the Greater Houston Area so that our communities can be free from economic exploitation, environmental degradation, and violence. We believe that when given the freedom and power to do so, ordinary people can govern their own lives and communities more than bosses, cops, or politicians ever could.

We are not a political party, nor are we a formal organization. We do not have permanent elected positions, our members don’t run for office under our banner, nor do we focus our energy on elections or electoral politics. We wish to make changes outside of the political system- to empower communities rather than rely on elected officials to do it for us.

We have no leaders. Our efforts are not guided by a single person or a committee. Instead, everyone in our organization has a say in the organization’s structure and activities. Our efforts are a result of the combined talents, interests, values, and knowledge of our entire organization, and not just a few.

Originally founded in 2022 as an especifist organization, we have strived to build an anarchist space so that radicals all over the Greater Houston Area can come together and collaborate on projects that further the development of anarchist politics within the Greater Houston Area. We started our organizing around our Houseless Distribution project, which currently delivers over a hundred meals every Thursday evening to unhoused encampments in Houston. We have expanded since then, with a biweekly free store and a zine distro. Our free store redistributes clothing and other donated items back to the community, the project emphasizes mutual aid and is a direct counter to the consumerist wasteful ethic of our capitalistic society. Our zine distro distributes radical literature and promotes anarchist politics, helping people understand what anarchism actually is. We also engage in anti-fascist organizing, consistently opposing fascism wherever it rears its ugly head in the Greater Houston Area.

More than anything else, we aim to make Space City Anarchist Organization an incubator space for those who want to make Houston better, just like we do. We hold regular social events, host book clubs, and deepen our connections to each other and our communities. We aim to host an annual Anarchist Bookfair in Houston so that regular people can meet each other, discuss anarchist politics, and hopefully come together to help build liberatory projects in their own communities.

A better world is not built only through dreams, but through physical action. Enough of waiting for a politician to pass some bill, on the next protest, on the next election cycle. There are real struggles happening in your community, and it is up to you to help join the struggle to build a better world. One individual may do some good, but an organized and dedicated force of everyday people will take down any obstacles in their path.

Our membership is open to people interested in organizing their communities, whether that means building mutual aid networks to make sure our neighbors are taken care of, fighting against white supremacy and patriarchy, or wanting to learn the skills to help liberate themselves and their neighbors. Ultimately, if you want to help build a better world, then the Space City Anarchist Organization is right for you. Join the struggle!
